I have spent the better part of my adult life search for the perfect onion dip. No kidding, I bet I’ve tried one hundred versions. My love of onion dip goes back to my childhood when every single birthday party included potato chips and onion dip. I can vividly remember the Mothers of the birthday child walking by each guest holding the container of store bought onion dip dipping out a serving to everyone. I would kindly say, “Two scoops, please.”
The closest thing I can find to that childhood taste is Kroger brand Onion Dip and I purchase it for many Friday Night Porch Parties. But, when I want to be a little fancier, I make this version. Your Friday friends will love it!
Ingredients:
¼ cup dry onion flakes
1 ½ teaspoons parsley flakes
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ heaping teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
Pinch of black pepper
1, 16 oz. container sour cream
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Refrigerate for an hour or overnight.
Serve with chips. I love Ruffles with this dip!
