Like Jalapenos, I spent the first half of my life afraid of red pepper flakes. As a child, I can remember the jar of red pepper on every table at Pizza Hut and not even once did I try it. After marrying Lou, I began to notice she would add a ton of red pepper to her pizza. I remember thinking to myself that if she can add that much, it can’t be too hot. Now I can’t get enough red pepper, and I find myself adding it to many recipes. One day, I decided to try adding the red pepper flakes to this recipe, and this is my new favorite sausage ball. I love the added heat. These little nuggets are crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside with a bite! I think you will love them.
Mississippi Fire Balls
Ingredients:
1 box Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
1 pound ground sausage
2 cups cheddar cheese
1, 8-ounce cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup buttermilk
4 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Begin by combining the sausage and the cream cheese. Add remaining ingredients. I use my hands to mix ingredients well. Roll into balls about the size of a quarter. Move balls to a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes until cooked through and golden brown on the outside.
How many balls does the recipe make?
