Grilled Salmon Filets

We’ve had our Big Green Egg for about 12 years, and it is absolutely my very favorite piece of cooking equipment. If you don’t have one, you must get one as soon as you can. I know they are expensive, but you will never have to purchase another grill in your life. A few years ago, my buddy, Bob, was loving on me by giving my grill a good cleaning. He mentioned that a couple of the pieces of the grill were broken, and he was pretty sure they came with a lifetime warranty. I called Madison Fireplace to ask, and Bob was correct. They sent me replacement pieces with no questions asked.

Grilled Salmon is probably my family’s favorite dish cooked on the egg. For some reason, Lou has always cooked our salmon. I think I might have been a little scared of cooking fish on the grill at first. Growing up, we only fried fish, and honestly, I think catfish was the only fish I had ever eaten before I was 40. Your family will love this, too. Serve it alongside Mushroom Rice. It makes for a great combo!

Grilled Salmon Filets:

Ingredients:

Salmon, with skin on, cut into 4-5 ounce servings

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/2 lemon juice

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 vegetable oil

2 gloves garlic (We use minced garlic at our house.)

2 tablespoons maple syrup

Directions:

Combine everything but the salmon in a zip lock bag. Marinate the salmon filets in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours. (We've marinated for much less time and they were still good.) Heat your grill to 350 degrees. Grill your salmon on direct heat for approximately 10 minutes on each side. Good just like this or served with Asian Mustard Sauce.
